Technological objects like cell phones, iPads, tablets, video games, etc. are more and more popular among children and young people and generate many problems in their daily lives.

As a conclusion is important to recognize that technology is part of our lives but it is more important to know how much influence it has on us and the changes it brings to our way of being, acting and living; you have to appreciate the advantages of a technological world without relying on him all the time, we must learn to differentiate between the real and the virtual and understand that all creation is an extension of ourselves and that we have control of our creations this world.

Technology has progress very much in the lasts decades. One negative situation is that still is to expensive so not everyone can benefit from it. Technology has made the world smaller than what it is, there are some areas that  are more benefit than others.

In healthcare area technology have become very important and has saved many lives for the accesability that we have and all the information that people can take from it. Sick people can communicate with phisicians easily, physicians can make cases studies with colleagues from other countries through technology; personal records of patients can be easily maintained which makes it easier to study symptoms and carryout diagnosis. Medical investigation has improved very much because of technology and costs of medical procedures have fallen very much.

In education field  technology have open up a whole world of opportunities for students and teachers as well; the resources technology brings to people are awsome. The help to students with special needs is also a big help. Distance learning has become easier and available for people from all economical level. Computers inside the classroom has open a new teaching method and many opportunities to students and teachers.

In the communication field technlogy have become a huge resource and has change the communications throughout all the world; social networking and blogging has opened up a new world to people from remote locations. It’s odd to think about technology as an extension of ourselves, being the scenario for relationship, business and learning environment among others, and just to mention the electronic devices, internet and social media have an influence in us, especially in adolescent development.

I would never think of technology as an extension of our humanity, as for instance:

Binocular: extension of our eyes

Internet: an extension of or nervous system

Clothes: extension of our skin

Computer is an extension of the way we process and the memory chip an extension of our memory capacity.

Technology is wide field, just to mention the electronic devices, internet and social media have an influence in us, especially in adolescent development. The information and those devices are out there, and it’s impossible to blame them on adolescent’s behavior, when it turns into bad situations and negative impact, even though, we are all the time taking advantages of what technology brings up to our lives.

With this general view about technology being part of us as an extension of who we are, then we can also say that technology has become essential in our lives so we can’t do anything without it, but what happen when it goes beyond and starts affecting us and our children?

What technology made to us in the case of memory, writing is not going to enhance memory but damaged, since all is reduced to pieces of paper with letters, we don’t necessary need to use memory anymore, and we just don’t even realize what this is doing to us, if we can compare before people had a tremendous memory which is difficult to develop for this time.

When playing violence video games, a part of the brain becomes less active, reacting activation and territorial of the brain can be more active.

Our relationship is being disintegrated since we have a devise to do it through, as soon as some technological is introduced real things are taking away from that personal interaction. For a lot of people is easier to text instead of having a face to face conversation.

Another point is that your mental capability to attend and to focus and to think deeply about things start being compromised when you prefer what you can see through the use of technology.

For our kids being multitask is a trend where they are more immerse, with disadvantage of there are less likely to develop social and emotional skills, because they are not practicing basic social interaction, and also much difficult to manage their memory.

For the last but no more challenge, there is the interaction with robots as a result of depraving our feelings, creating robots that have similar connection that we would have with regular human being, as the popular video game called Love plus, developed to create the ideal avatar partner, with the features you more like, those people who have played the game experiment the same feelings as a person such as a lost. As we can see all those extension created to reflect us is changing us as well.

These are hard times, where we have to teach our children the balance between using technology and having a normal life, in order to reach this goal it is necessary the parent’s example and is quite important showing the empathy interacting between them.

The solution some of the issues regarding to technology is not avoiding or the total abstinence of it, it is just to educate and show our children the correct use and stablish some rules to follow, as well as with your example of using and behaving at home will surely help to minimize the impact of technology in our family.
